A Musical Journey
Christina was born and raised on a small island, Cyprus. She grew up in a diverse family: speaking two languages Greek and Finnish as well as English as a third language. Her father is Cypriot, and mother is Finnish. Ever since she was nine, she started singing and playing piano. She had a private singing instructor at the Music school of Kyriakides and for classical music Elina Zavrou at the Music High school. She discovered that music was her passion at a very early age and was involved in many music related activities. She represented Cyprus in the European Junior Eurovision song contest in Romania in 2006, sung at the showcase of Four seasons hotel in Limassol for the summer season, participated in the young talent showcase at the International 44th Pori Jazz festival in Finland 2007 and released her Christmas CD in Cyprus at the same year. Her passion for music grew with her. It was what represented her and still is. She graduated as an honors student from a music high school in Limassol, Cyprus. Music was not a hobby anymore and that is the reason why she decided to pursue her higher education in New York. She graduated with a BFA in Jazz Vocal Performance at the City College of New York in 2017 with multiple scholarships. While in school she had the opportunity to take private singing classes with Carolyn Leonhard, Suzanne Pittson, and Yaala Ballin.
New York is a place to be, to learn and achieve. She had the chance to perform at the Apollo theatre's Amateur night and soon after she released a demo in 2016 produced by CP Lacey on FamCrest Records indie label. Now, she is working at the Jazz Gallery, and is a music teacher at Juliet Music Academy and Sage Music in LIC. Besides teaching, Christina is also performing in multiple venues in the city. New York has taught her a lot and has helped her grow as a musician and she is learning every day through these experiences.
